We’re in Bozeman!

We’re in Bozeman, MT, washing clothes at a laundrymat near the hotel were staying at tonight. The trip so far has been a blast! Today was a long day for sure, riding from Glacier NP. The distance was long, the terrain was open and windy for most of the day, both our butts hurt, and so does my neck.

I’ll post the details when we get back, but day one we rode from Chehalis, WA, to Couer d Alane, I’d. The lake was beautiful, though we got in late so we didn’t get to enjoy too much of it.

Day two we rode to Glacier NP and stayed at the Fish Creek CG, and got to take a nice refreshing dip in Lake mcDonald.

Day three we had planned to only rode over the Road To the Sun, all of 50 or so miles, pitching our tent at the Rising Sun Campground, then heading back up to Logan Pass. However, after making it over the pass, finding a campsite and setting up tent we fell asleep. More in a later post…

Day four we decided to spend the day up in Alberta Canada, in their part of the park called Waterton Lakes NP. It was equally beautiful and it was nice to be able to leave all the luggage back at camp and ride around on a nice light bike. Anyway, so here we are, resting it up tonight, then down to Yellowstone NP, and the Beartooth Scenic Byway! BTW, we actually saw some bears yeasterday! A momma, and 3 or 4 cubs munching on berry bushes! It was fantastic! Adios for now!

More on everything soon…

In a few hours…

We will be on our way! Woot, tired as usual, and in much need of coffee/Vault Zero. We added route map links on the “The Route” page to the left. More from the road to come…

The bags, the bags, the bags…they fit.

Yesterday, I was over at the parents house, to get the new GIVI luggage racks installed. After an hour or so I had the rack pieces installed for the rear luggage. I would have started on the side luggage racks, but installation involves relocating the rear turn signals, and I wanted to wait until dad was around, since he’s a bit more knowledgable with that kind of stuff.

As far as the install of the rear luggage rack went, I didn’t have much in the way of problems. Besides including fairly vague instructions, with basically pictures only, and poor descriptions of the included items. A few of the OEM bolts on the bike we’re replaced as part of the install. After i figured out what the pictures were supposed to be showing, I quickly had things tightened down and installed. I popped on one of the luggage, and it locked in place.

Tonight we’ll be trying to install the side luggage and the bar risers. The boxes look really nice, and the only thing i’m worried about is that the back box (they’re actually all the same size), seems like it won’t be big enough. I have called a bunch of different motorcycle shops/companies to find out if anyone carries the 45liter version of the bag, but bascially all GIVI luggage is drop shipped from the GIVI factory in North Carolina. So, we’ll have to make it work.

More later on today…

Constant Banging On Our Chairs

Oh the joys of sitting on the long line of joined chairs. Three seats down and the next, sit a couple of fidgity, small, future leaders of the world. Feet kicking a way, random noises coming from their mouths. Welcome to Denver International Airport!

We made it here on time. And aside from forgeting Moo’s cell number, everything is going well!

Thanks to our friends for the ride, and here’s to a great trip.

One thing that’s happened in Lincoln at the airport. We were notified by the baggage check man, that our biggest bag, a giant hockey bag containing most of our riding/camping gear, was about 11 pounds over weight. At around 61 lbs, the gentleman said that there would be a $50 charge for the bag being over the 50lb limit.

He asked uf I could transfer some of the contents to my other bag, he didn’t want to charge me the money. After moving several items, he reweighed, and the bag was right at 50.7lbs. Thanks friendly Frontier baggage checker!

Well, the flight is about to board, so its off the Blackberry for now…
